PayPal and OpenAI have entered into an agreement to integrate PayPal's digital wallet into ChatGPT. Users will be able to pay for purchases inside ChatGPT using bank cards linked to their PayPal account or from their PayPal balance. The payment system will provide transaction security, order tracking and return support. The deal makes PayPal the first payment service integrated into ChatGPT and is part of OpenAI's strategy to develop AI-powered e-commerce. The company hopes that users will be able to search and purchase products through the chatbot, much like a personal assistant.

Microsoft has added support for all desktop extensions to its mobile Edge browser. This feature is unique among major browser developers – even Google hasn't yet realised it. Mobile Edge for Android and iOS already supported extensions, but only those created specifically for it (not for the desktop version). For now desktop add-ons currently only available on Android. To make it easier to find the extension you need in Edge for smartphones, you'll need to enable the search bar – it's disabled by default. Type Edge://flags in the address bar and go to that page. There, you'll need to manually enable the Android Extension Search flag, then restart the browser.

OpenAI has unveiled its own AI-powered browser ChatGPT Atlas, which aims to compete with Google Chrome (which has over 3 billion users worldwide). How can it win? ChatGPT Atlas users can interact with search results, similar to Perplexity. The built-in chatbot resides in the sidebar and takes into account the context of what's displayed on the screen, as well as your recent browsing history. Using "agent mode," users can ask ChatGPT to perform small tasks in the browser on their behalf (this feature is available only to paid users). But the main advantage is that having a separate application for ChatGPT on your computer is convenient. That's why many have already installed the ChatGPT desktop client. Apparently, after some time, the company will merge it with the browser and then Chrome (and Google search) will have problems, since ChatGPT uses Microsoft's Bing search engine by default.

Video conferencing service Google Meet finally has added an AI-powered makeup filter for those days when you don't feel like applying real makeup before a meeting. The new feature will help it compete with other video conferencing platforms that already support virtual makeup, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Google Meet offers 12 different makeup options to choose from. Google claims the virtual makeup will stay in place regardless of the user's movements on the screen. So, if the user takes a sip of coffee, the filter will stay on their face, not move to their mug.

OpenAI has enabled developers to embed their apps directly into ChatGPT. Initially, ChatGPT users will be able to access interactive apps from Booking.com, Expedia, Spotify, Figma, Coursera, Zillow and Canva. By typing the names of various apps into ChatGPT, users can interact with them via a language-based interface. For example, a user could type, "Expedia, find me hotels in Chicago for under $250 a night." Apps can respond with text, trigger actions or display a fully interactive user interface in responses. If user is already subscribed to the app, they can log in directly to their account in ChatGPT to access certain features. OpenAI is also launching an Apps SDK - a developer toolkit designed to build these apps.

Until now, building and launching AI agents has been a jungle. Developers have struggled between dozens of incompatible SDKs, custom pipelines and manual integrations. Building a reliable agent meant weeks of coding, fixing orchestration bugs and constantly balancing speed and quality. Now, OpenAI has introduced the AgentKit. This isn't just an API or a visual interface. It's a complete infrastructure that allows you to develop, test and launch agent systems significantly faster. It includes three key components: Agent Builder, a visual designer for agent pipelines; Connector Registry, a connection and access management panel; and ChatKit, a set of tools for embedding chat interfaces directly into products.

Enterprise users of Gmail can now send end-to-end encrypted emails, not just to users within their domain and not just to Gmail users, but to users of any email service (in this case, the user will have to click a link to read the message on GMail private area). To encrypt a message, sender simply needs to click the "Advanced Encryption" button and Gmail will do the rest. Google encrypts the message on client-side before sending it to the cloud, meaning that no one, neither Google nor any other organization, except the recipient, can read its contents. This complies with various data regulation laws.
