DropBox and OneDrive are both cloud storage services that enable file synchronization across devices and file sharing with different access permissions. They offer desktop and mobile apps, provide offline access to stored files, integrate with Microsoft Office and other third-party tools.
But DropBox (launched in 2008) primarily targets freelancers and small teams with a focus on simplicity. It provides advanced features like Smart Sync and file versioning, offers broader range of third-party app integrations (but limited native integration with productivity suites compared to OneDrive)
OneDrive (2007) is Microsoft's service that is used either by consumers or by enterprises. Of course, it's deeply integrated into Windows and Microsoft 365 applications like Word, Excel and Teams. OneDrive provides additional security features like Personal Vault for sensitive files. It comes for free with Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
