OneNote allows to capture thoughts, ideas and to-do's. Your stuff travels with you on your computers, tablets and phones. Share your notebooks with others for viewing or editing. Integrates with Outlook for task management and meeting notes.

Instapaper vs OneNote are both services for memorizing and structuring content. They work in a web browser, but also provide mobile applications with offline access. They support tags for organizing pages, integrate with cloud storage.

But Instapaper (appeared in 2008) is a service for reading news/articles. It allows you to save new web materials and read them later in a calm environment. It provides suitable reader that shows clean text without ads and unnecessary design, supports highlighting quotes and notes directly in the text of the article.

OneNote (2003) is a Microsoft service for taking notes. Many people use it to save news/articles, but it is not as convenient as with Instapaper, because you need to copy-paste text manually, removing ads and web design elements.
