Microsoft Teams is the chat-based workspace in Office 365 that integrates all the people, content, and tools your team needs to be more engaged and effective. Supports video meetings with up to 1,000 participants.
Jostle and Microsoft Teams are both software products designed to improve employee collaboration and communication via chats, updates and task management. These systems also provide a centralized place for content within organizations, help in development of corporate culture and increasing employee engagement. Both systems operate in the cloud and are accessible via a web browser, desktop and mobile applications.
But Jostle (launched in 2009) is a Canadian intranet portal (or as they are now called - an employee success platform). That is, the main goal of this platform is to help employees feel engaged and successful. For example, it has a "Shout-Outs" feature - that allows to send congratulations or thank-you which are than displayed in the activity feed. There are also library of documents, organizational charts, events calendar and news. Jostle is easier to deploy, more intuitive and requires minimal user training.
Microsoft Teams (2016) is primarily a corporate messenger and video conferencing system. Collaboration on files, tasks and content are secondary functions. It is a part of the Microsoft 365 office suite and is deeply integrated with other Microsoft products. Teams competes with Slack in the corporate communications segment.
