WordPress
WordPress is web software (+service) you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time. The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine.

Wix and WordPress are both software for easy website creating that don't require HTML, JavaScript or PHP skills. They offer a library of ready-made design templates, allow to create and edit pages in a WYSIWYG editor, customize page URLs and connect your own domain. The result is a website with responsive design, optimized for SEO. With various paid and free add-ons, you can add analytics, implement additional security measures, add online customer booking or transform your website into an e-commerce store. Both platforms also use AI, which allows you to do all of the above via chatbot. You can manage your site in an online console or a mobile app.

WordPress is an open-source CMS platform developed by the community (but under the careful guidance of Automattic Inc). This means it's completely free to use if you install it on your own hosting. However, Automattic also offers a paid website creation service, WordPress.com, which uses the same CMS with additional features. Wordpress's main advantage is its long-standing popularity, making it familiar for any webmaster. Its long history and huge community have also resulted in a vast number of templates and plugins, allowing you to implement any functionality you need. If you use an open-source CMS, you can also freely edit the code. WordPress.com is, on average, cheaper than Wix and also allows you to take your site and move it to another hosting provider.

Wix is perhaps the second most popular website building platform. It's not as familiar as WordPress, but it's more modern and user-friendly. It's online builder allows you to drag and drop blocks and draw the site structure in live mode. On the other hand, it's very limited in code customization. Because Wix was created by a relatively small team (not a community), it's a more considered, stable and comprehensive product. It was also originally developed with native SEO, analytics, CRM and marketing management tools. However, Wix doesn't offer the freedom to migrate your site.
