2022. Practice management software Tebra secures $72M

Practice management software company Tebra secured more than $72 million in equity and debt financing from Golub Capital, boosting its valuation to over $1 billion. Tebra is the result of a recent merger between Kareo, which offers clinical and financial software, and PatientPop, which provides tools for patient engagement and practice growth. The deal closed in November. The combined company includes products for building a medical practice's website and advertising its services, online scheduling and patient reminders, telehealth, an EHR, billing and payment, as well as data analytics.
2021. Oracle acquires Cerner to dominate healthcare vertical

Oracle is acquire the US-based digital health giant Cerner for $95 per share. The massive acquisition is the biggest ever for Oracle. "With this acquisition, Oracle's corporate mission expands to assume the responsibility to provide our overworked medical professionals with a new generation of easier-to-use digital tools that enable access to information via a hands-free voice interface to secure cloud applications," Larry Ellison, Oracle chairman and CTO, said. Cerner has historically used its own data centers to store millions of citizens' healthcare data. But in 2019, the company began shifting to the cloud - announcing it planned to move some workloads to Amazon Web Services.
2020. Microsoft launches industry-specific cloud solutions, starting with healthcare

Microsoft has launched Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare, an industry-specific cloud solution for healthcare providers. This is the first in what is likely going to be a set of cloud offerings that target specific verticals and extends a trend we’ve seen among large cloud providers (especially Google) that tailor specific offerings to the needs of individual industries. Like similar Microsoft-branded offerings from the company, Cloud for Healthcare is about bringing together a set of capabilities that already exist inside of Microsoft. In this case, that includes Microsoft 365, Dynamics, Power Platform and Azure, including Azure IoT for monitoring patients. The solution sits on top of a common data model that makes it easier to share data between applications and analyze the data they gather.
